San Jacinto Ceremony 2023

People sit in rows of chairs with their backs to the camera, facing a tall stone building and other people seated on a raised terrace, with Texas and U.S. flags flying.

EACH YEAR, THE BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO and the soldiers who fought there are remembered on the anniversary of the battle. All are welcome to attend this event.  The official San Jacinto Day Ceremony will take place at the San Jacinto Monument on April 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.  Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm will be the principal speaker, and Sharolyn Wood will be the Master of Ceremonies. The Battle Report will be given by Nancy Burch, the great-great-granddaughter of General Houston.

The Texas Army will fire a volley, and Rolling Thunder will be present to fire its cannon.  Recipients of scholarships given by the San Jacinto Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of the Republic of Texas will be announced. A Memorial Wreath dedicated by the San Jacinto Descendants will be laid at the door of the Monument by the Presidents General of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, and the San Jacinto Descendants. Also participating will be the Deer Park High School Orchestra, and Deer Park High School Army JROTC Color Guard.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved from the terrace of the Monument to the theatre inside the building.
