SPARK! Winter Season Celebration

An aerial view of the San Jacinto Monument surrounded by snow, under a blue sky.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS IN 19TH-CENTURY TEXAS blended traditions from many cultures and often centered on handmade decorations, gifts, and gatherings with family and friends. In this SPARK! session, participants will explore how Texans celebrated the holiday season through artifacts, photographs, and archival materials from the San Jacinto Museum's collections. Participants will discuss holiday customs of the past and create a Victorian-inspired Christmas ornament to take home.

SPARK! is a free program for caregivers and loved ones experiencing beginning- to mid-stage Alzheimer's disease and other forms of memory loss. SPARK! programs feature interactive experiences in a welcoming environment. Specially trained museum educators engage participants in lively discussions, artmaking, encounters with museum artifacts, and other multi-sensory activities.

Registration is free and required prior to participation. All registrations must be received at least one day before the selected program.

Space is limited, so register early. Call 281-479-2431.
