THE SAN JACINTO MUSEUM ENJOYS THE ASSISTANCE of numerous Texan heritage organizations for our events, programs, and much more. These organizations include the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the San Jacinto Descendants. On National Son and Daughter Day, visit the Battleground to learn more about these important organizations.
Soon after it was established, the San Jacinto Museum enjoyed the generosity of the San Jacinto Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT), and the Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT), two Texas Heritage organizations comprised of direct lineal descendants of those who settled the Republic of Texas prior to February 19, 1846.
As early as the mid-19th century, the DRT and SRT began fundraising for improvements to the battleground, such as the donation of the armillary sphere monument located at the Texian camp, and gathered artifacts to present to the San Jacinto Museum when it opened. Since then, the DRT and SRT have continued to be significant contributors to the mission of educating the public on Texas history.
Join the San Jacinto Chapters of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of the Republic of Texas inside the San Jacinto Museum to learn more about the DRT and SRT, their relation to the San Jacinto Battleground, and their important historical work!
