Starting October 7, the San Jacinto Monument's Observation Floor will close for renovation, open on weekends, with discounted museum admission during this time.

EXPERIENCE SAN JACINTO IS A THREE-DAY SUMMER CAMP program that immerses the participant in history before the battle, the battle of San Jacinto itself, and its aftermath. Through a variety of living history activities and demonstrations, participants will follow in the footsteps of Texian and Mexican troops and experience for themselves the struggles of camp life during the Runaway Scrape and battle preparations at the Groce Plantation, culminating in the final battle at San Jacinto  – an all-out water fight!

Day 2 (June 25, July 23): Experience the Groce Plantation

  • Hike + orienteering
  • Musketball making
  • Cartridge Box making
  • Haversack packing (demo only)
  • Military drills and tactics/the music of war
  • Musket demonstrations

Day 3 (June 26, July 24): Experience the Battle of San Jacinto

  • Flag Making
  • Capture the Cannon (flag)
  • Battlefield Medicine
  • Cannon Training with Cannon demonstrations
  • Water Fight
  • Quill and Ink activity

Campers are allowed to bring a snack to enjoy during break time. Please bring a water bottle, and sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.

Limited to 30 campers per camp week.
