Museum Docent Program
Docents make history come alive for site visitors; their knowledge, dedication, and passion are invaluable. Becoming a docent gives a volunteer the opportunity to learn new information about the subject they love and to meet new people who share their same passion. If you have a few hours share each month - or each week - you can make an impact.
Docent training is provided - two training dates are now set for late spring 2022, on Saturday, June 4th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Sunday, June 12th, 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. Docents will receive a basic overview of the battle history and will gain knowledge about various items in the exhibit area, as well as learn basic educational techniques. Sign up is available online or contact Katelyn Shaver if you have questions.
Docents will be located in the main exhibit area on weekends and will interact with the public, draw their attention to certain aspects of the exhibit, and answer any questions they may have. The docent will be encourage to carry one or more props.
