Description
Bowl. China transferware. Blue on white. Texian Campaignware. "General Taylor in Texas." OBVERSE: Repeated border pattern with Ceres and war trophies. Central scene of two mounted officers, three foot soldiers, and an injured horse. Background has a carriage and more troops. REVERSE: "TEXIAN CAMPAIGNE... J.B." and "3".
Provenance
Probably by James Beech (1770-1854) at the Lion Works. Also, possibly by Thomas Walker (1823-1852), his son-in-law.
