Description
Froe. Cast iron blade. Rust and heavy wear to blade. Blade shellacked. Wooden handle. Original catalog card describes as "handle restored". Appears to be a modern replacement.
Provenance
Carried from Nacogdoches to McLennan County in 1854. There it was used to make shingles for the home of Joel Burditt Crain, veteran of San Jacinto. Crain was born in Tennessee 9/6/1813. He came to Texas in 1834. At the Battle of San Jacinto he fought as a member of William Kimbro's An Augustine Company. He died 9/10/1902.
