Stone pre-Columbian ax. Grayish-black. Label on side reads: "Carcay Mountains Battle ax Northern Mexico". No handle.
Provenance
From the Carcay Mountains in northern Mexico. Mimi Crossley, Curator of Pre-Columbian Collections at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, examined this artifact on 4-13-00. Ms. Crossley believes that this is probably a utilitarian tool rather than a weapon. Consistent with pre-Columbian tools.
