Description
Quilt, crazy. Pieced of various shaped and colored silk pieces (and threads) sewn together with colored threads in feather stitch. Sewn onto black satin, handquilted. 5 1/2" border. Separate embroidered designs sewn on a number of pieces, including cobweb stitch, leaf and sunburst stitch. One peice, Texas veterans badge (deteriorated); pieces with printing include: "Sayers Rifles"; "CHRISTMAS GREETING"; "Galveston Semi-Centennial, June 4-16, 1889"; poem: "Christmas time is come!/ Open wide thy heart,/ Joyful be thy home,/ May all thy cares depart!" Fair to good condition. Slight fraying (loose threads), some patches. Slight loss - silk fabric - patches near center, also near a corner border. Slight crease (large fold) at center. Slight folds.
