Description

Indian beadwork purse. Black velvet sides. Bound in red cotton. Lined in white cotton. Multi-colored floral beadwork design with sequins.


Provenance

Given by an Indian girl to Sam Houston. He gave the purse to Mary Rhoda Goodrich Muldrow when she was sixteen. She was the daughter of Dr. Benjamin Goodrich, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. She was the mother of Jeanie Muldrow of Navasota and grandmother of the donor.
