PERRY, DANIEL--Name not shown on the official San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836. In the Headright Certificate issued to him by the Fort Bend County Board for a league and labor of land March 2, 1838 it is stated that he arrived in Texas in June, 1832. Captain Perry commanded a volunteer company which was combined with Captain William S. Fisher's Company. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 208 for 640 acres of land May 25, 1838 for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. In Comptroller's Military Service record No. 1594 it is stated that he served in the army from March 6, to June 7, 1836. For this service he received Bounty Certificate No. 4332 for 320 acres of land, September 24, 1838. In Service Record No. 1196 it is certified that John F. Stancell was a member of Captain Perry's Company until it was combined with Captain Fisher's Company.

Captain Perry resided in Fort Bend County prior to the war but moved to Harrisburg County. He signed his will at Houston, September 12, 1866 but removed back to Fort Bend County. The Probate Records of Fort Bend County show that he died November 9, 1869, survived by his widow, Mrs. Jane H. Perry; a daughter, Laura Ann, and a son James W. Perry. The following children were deceased at that time: Samuel, Daniel, Mary and William Perry. Captain Perry is buried near Duke Station, Ft. Bend County. Mr. F.M.O. Fenn located the grave.
