DOUBT, DANIEL L. -- It has not been ascertained when he came to Texas. He received a Headright Certificate from the Houston County Board in 1838 for one-third of a league of land. This was lost and a duplicate was issued August 27, 1851 but in it it is not stated when Mr. Doubt came to Texas. He was a member of Captain Hayden Arnold's "Nacogdoches Company" at San Jacinto and on May 3, 1840 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 1040 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. The land was surveyed in Houston County.
