HENSLEY, JOHN M. - Born in Tennessee, April 24, 1810. In Comptroller’s Military Service Record it is certified that he joined Captain Moseley Baker’s Company March 5, 1836 but when discharged on May 1, 1836 he was a member of Captian Peter B. Dexter’s company.
On March 13, 1850 Mr. Hensley was issued Donation Certificate No. 199 for 640 acres of land for having been detailed to guard the camp opposite Harrisburg.
Mr. Hensley was married to Sarah Lynch at Houston August 1, 1842. Mr. Hensley was a member of the Texas Veterans Association. He was living in Travis County in 1870; in Waller County in 1874 and he died in Center City, Hamilton County in 1884.
