DUNN, JOSIAH G. - Arrived at Velasco from New Orleans on about February 28, 1836 on the INVINCIBLE, as a member of Captain William E. Howth’s Company. (See the sketch of John H. Smith). In Comptroller’s Military Service Record No. 1598 it is certified that Mr. Dunn served in the army from April 11 to July 7, 1836. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 235 for 640 acres of land, November 25, 1850 for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. On page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office he is shown as a member of Captain Joseph B. Chance’s Washington Company at the Harrisburg camp. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 4294 for 320 acres of land, September 14, 1838 for having served in the army from April 7 to July 7, 1836. The certificate had been assigned to H. G. Catlett.

Mr. Dunn was living in Holmes County, Mississippi, March 26, 1851 when he sold Donation Certificate No. 235 to David G. Red.

DUNN, J. G. - Came to Texas in January 1836. This is stated in Headright Certificate No. 175 for one-third of a league of land issued to him in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County.
