BLACK, ALBERT - Listed on page 227 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as D. O. Black, one of the men of Captain Jesse Billingsley’s Company who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. His name is not on the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 or the San Jacinto rolls in the Land Office, yet on August 10, 1840 his heirs received Donation Certificate No. 1059 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto.

Mr. Black died in Bexar County in July 1839 in Bexar County. (Bexar County Probate Records (Book A, page 115.) His heirs on December 15, 1854 received Bounty Certificate No. 1833 for 320 acres of land due him for having served in the army from February 28 to June 1, 1836.
Mr. Black came to Texas in 1827, as is shown in an unnumbered Headright certificate issued to him for one-third of a league of land January 19, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Bastrop County.
In Service Record No. 581 it is certified that Joseph Black, Administrator of the Albert Black was entitled to receive three hundred and twenty acres of land due Mr. Black his services in Captain Jesse Billingsley’s Company from February 28 to June 1, 1836. The heirs of Mr. Black in 1840 were Mrs. Tibitha Black Reynolds, wife of David Reynolds, and William Holder, all of Bastrop County.
