BOTTSFORD, SEYMOUR -- In the book in the Spanish Archives in the General Land Office in which are listed the names of the applicants for land in Robertson's Colonies it is shown that Mr. Bottsford made application February 26, 1836. He stated that he had arrived in Texas from Mississippi, November 28, 1835, and that he was 27 years of age. He did not receive a grant since the land office was closed at the time he applied and was never thereafter reopened. When the administrator of Mr. Bottsford's estate applied June 7, 1838 to the Board of Land Commissioners for Fort Bend County for one-third of a league of land due Mr. Bottsford he merely stated that Mr. Bottsford had arrived in Texas prior to March 2, 1836.

The Probate Records of Harris County show that Nathaniel Peck was appointed administrator of Mr. Bottsford's estate July 12, 1838. On January 6, 1838 the heirs of Mr. Bottsford were issued Bounty Certificate No. 1630 for 960 acres of land for his services in the army from April 11 to the time of his death, July 11, 1836. He was a member of Captain William Wood's Company at San Jacinto and on March 20, 1850 his heirs received Donation Certificate No. 198 for 640 acres of land due him for having participated in the battle.
