WATERS, WILLIAM -- On page 97, Book A, of the list of applicants for land in Austin's Colonies it is shown that when Mr. Waters applied for land June 2, 1831, and which he did not secure, he stated that he was forty-four years of age and had arrived in Texas from Virginia in April, 1831. In the Headright Certificate No. 70 issued to him February 21, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Colorado County it is stated that he came to Texas in 1830. The compiler accepts the date of April, 1831 as being correct.

Mr. Waters was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3950 for 320 acres of land, June 27, 1838 for having served in the army from February 29 to May 30, 1836. He was a member of Captain William J. E. Heard's Company of Citizen Soldiers at San Jacinto and on June 28, 1838 was issued Donation Certificate No. 387 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle.

In the Probate Minutes of Colorado County, Book B, page 41, it is shown that Mr. Waters died in Colorado County in 1842. George W. Thacklton was appointed administrator of his estate July 25, 1842.
