WALKER, WILLIAM S.-- Shown on the official rolls as printed in 1836 as having been badly wounded while serving in Captain Richard Roman's Company at San Jacinto. Most of the men of Captain Roman's Company were recruited in New Orleans by Captain Amasa Turner and arrived at Velasco January 28, 1836, on the schooner Pennsylvania. No information, however, concerning Mr. Walker has been obtained. It seems evident that he either died or left Texas soon after the battle since he did not apply for Headright, Bounty, or Donation lands. He was also entitled to receive a league of land for having been badly wounded in the Battle, but neither he nor his heirs applied for it. No mention of his name is found in the Comptroller's Military Service Records kept in the Archives of the Texas State Library.
