THOMPSON, CYRUS W. -- Born in New York in 1811. He came to Texas in 1835, as is shown in Headright Certificate No. 115 issued to him January 20, 1838 for one-twelfth of a league of land by the Liberty County Board. He later received another Headright Certificate for one-fourth of a league of land from the Liberty County Board. He received Bounty Certificate No. 4078 for 320 acres of land for serving in the army from March 6 to June 6, 1836. He was a member of Captain William M. Logan's Company of Liberty Volunteers at San Jacinto and on November 15, 1839 received Donation Certificate No. 946 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. Mr. Thompson was married to Melina Wittington in Jefferson County, June 21, 1840. He was living in Chambers County in 1872 and died in Liberty County in 1875. He was a member of the Texas Veterans Association.
