TAYLOR, ABRAHAM R. -- Arrived in Texas, January 28, 1836, as is stated in Headright Certificate No. 377 issued to him June 7, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Montgomery County Board of Land Commissioners. He was recruited for the Army of Texas in New Orleans by Captain Amasa Turner and landed at Velasco on the schooner Pennsylvania, January 28th.

Mr. Taylor was First Corporal in Captain Richard Roman's Company at San Jacinto and on June 11, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 321 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On March 4, 1839 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 8056 for 640 acres of land for having served in the army from January 29, to September 25, 1836.
In the files of the Court of Claims in the General Land Office it is shown that on August 6, 1858 Mr. Taylor, through an attorney, applied for any additional land that might be due him. His place of residence was not shown in the petition.
