BOND, HENRY -- Arrived at Velasco December 20, 1835, as a member of Captain W. W. O. (?) Wadsworth's Company of "Columbus Volunteers," Georgia Battalion. In the Headright Certificate issued to him by the Harrisburg County Board for one-third of a league of land it is stated that he arrived December 15, 1835, but this is a slight mistake. Opposite his name on Captain Wadsworth's roll in the General Land Office is the notation: "Absent without leave."

Mr. Bond was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's company of "Velasco Blues" at San Jacinto but did not apply for the land due him for having participated in the battle. He was living in Galveston September 16, 1842, when he sold his Headright Certificate to R. M. Potter. His heirs on November 11, 1852, received Bounty Certificate No. 1164 for 320 acres of land due him for having served in the army from March 16 to June 16, 1836. On July 20, 1858, his heirs through their attorney, John W. Turner, applied to the Commissioner of Claims for the donation land due him. In the petition it was stated that Mr. and Mrs. Bond died in Galveston but the dates of their deaths were not given.
