SULLIVAN, DENNIS -- Arrived in Texas at sometime between May 2, 1835 and March 2, 1836. In Headright Certificate No. 221 issued in his name February 2, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County for one-third or a league of land it is stated that he came to Texas in January, 1836.

Mr. Sullivan was a member of Captain Henry Teal's Company of Regulars (Company A) at San Jacinto. Bounty Certificate No. 4263 for 192O acres of land was issued in his name September 6, 1838 for his services in the army from January 5, 1836 to August 1, 1837, when he died.

Robin George appeared before the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County January 6, 1838 and testified that he served in the army with Mr. Sullivan for seventeen months. He stated that he was with him when he died and that he helped to bury him. He died, he thought, sometime in June, 1837. (See page 21 of the Harrisburg Headright Book, General Land Office, Austin.)

Captain R. Boyd Irving, commander of Company A at the time, stated in Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 8123 that Mr. Sullivan died in the service August 1, 1837. He had been promoted to Corporal September 8, 1836. Hoover and Lott Houston, received Mr. Sullivan's Headright Certificate, proving that they had purchased the rights to it from Mr. Sullivan.
