SLAYDON, JOHN -- Listed on page 16 of the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 as John Sleightson and on page 37 of the Land Office rolls and John Slighton, a member of Captain William M. Logan's company. In Headright Certificate No. 59 issued to John Slaydon February 9, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Jasper County Board of Land Commissioners it is stated that he came to Texas in 1825. In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 7028 it is certified that John Sladon served in Captain Logan's Company from March 6 to June 6, 1836. John Slader was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3004 for 320 acres of land April 24, 1838 for serving in the army from March 6 to June 6, 1836. This he sold to A. B. Gant. John Slater was issued Bounty Certificate No. 139 for 800 acres of land for having served from June 9, 1836 to November 4, 1837. This he also sold to Mr. Gant.

John Slaydon sold his Headright Certificate March 8, 1838 to James Hogg of Jasper County for $300.00. He could not write but affixed his mark to the deed of transfer. He was a member of Captain William M. Logan's Company at San Jacinto.
