SHESTON, HENRY -- A member of Captain Amasa Turner's company at San Jacinto. Most of the men of Captain Turner's command were recruited by him in New Orleans and arrived at Velasco, January 28, 1836 on board the schooner Pennsylvania. Mr. Sheston was probably on board the boat but this the compiler has been unable to establish since Mr. Sheston did not receive a Headright Certificate.

Mr. Sheston is shown on page ______ of the army rolls in the General Land Office as a member of Captain John Smith's company at muster on Galveston Island, December 31, 1837. On __________ he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1271 for 1280 acres of land for having served in the army from February 13, 1836 to October 25, 1837. This he sold at Brazoria, October 28, 1837 to Edmund Andrews.
Mr. Sheston probably returned to his home in the United States shortly after receiving his discharge from the army. He did not apply for a Donation Certificate since such certificates were non-transferable.
