BIRD, JAMES -- Received Headright Certificate January 30, 1838 for a league and labor of land from the Washington County Board. In the certificate it is stated that Mr. Bird came to Texas in 1832. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1745 for 320 acres of land January 21, 1838 for having served in the army from October 6 to December 20, 1835. He received Donation Certificate No. 477 for 640 acres of land July 26, 1838 for having participated in the Storming and Capture of Bexar, December 5 to 10, 1835. At San Jacinto, Mr. Bird was a member of Captain William J. E. Heard's Company.

Mr. Bird was living in Gonzales County April 19, 1845 when he appointed Arthur Swift his agent to survey his Headright. His Donation land was surveyed in DeWitt County.
