RAYMOND, SAMUEL B. -- Enlisted in Captain Sidney Sherman's Company in Kentucky December 18, 1835 and arrived in Texas in January, 1836. He was Second Lieutenant in Captain William Wood's Company at San Jacinto and on December 2, 1839 was issued a Donation Certificate No. 967 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. The land was surveyed in Colorado County. He received Bounty Certificate No. 9339 for 1280 acres of land for serving in the army from December 18, 1835 to June 4, 1836. He was living in Gonzales County April 25, 1840 when he sold the certificate to Edward Dickinson for $1,000.00.
