PATTON, WILLIAM--Came to Texas in January, 1836. On January 14, 1836 he took the oath of alligiance to Texas at Nacogdoches as is shown on page 114 of the Army muster rolls in the General Land Office. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 979 for 1280 acres of land December 14, 1837, for serving in the army from March 17, 1836 to December 13, 1837. This he sold at Houston December 22, 1837. He was a member of Captain Henry Teal's Company of regulars at San Jacinto but did not apply for the 640 acres of land he was entitled to receive for having participated in the battle. In Service Record No. 5772 it is certified that when discharged from the army he was a member of Captain Robert Boyd Irving's Company. He did not apply for a Headright Certificate and probably left Texas shortly after receiving his discharge from the army.
