ODEM, DAVID -- Born in Mississippi in 1812. In the Headright Certificate issued to him July 5, 1838, for one-third of a league of land it is stated that he came to Texas in 1832. He was a member of Captain Thomas H. McIntire's Company at San Jacinto and on December 14, 1838 was issued Donation Certificate No. 692 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. At the same time he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 5081 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 18 to June 18, 1836.
