McGARY, DANIEL H. -- Born in Cincinnati, Ohio. On the Headright Certificate issued to him for a league and labor of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Montgomery County, January 20, 1838 it is stated that he arrived in Texas March 1, 1836. He was a brother of Jonathan and Isaac McGary.

Jonathan McGary married the widow of George A. Lamb, who was among those killed at San Jacinto. In 1838 he was administrator of the estate of Mr. Lamb. Daniel H. McGary and his wife, Sarah McGary, were bondsmen for Jonathan McGary. The probate records of Walker County show them living in that county in 1847.

Daniel H. McGary was a member of Captain William Kimbro's Company at San Jacinto and on November 24, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 622 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. While living in Limestone County, May 11, 1848, he sold this certificate to John R. Henry of Limestone County.

Writing for the Texas Almanac 1872, Mr. R. T. Crain of Bosque County stated that Mr. McGary was at that time living in Washington County.
