HOGAN, THOMAS -- Arrived at Velasco January 28, 1836, on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited in New Orleans for the army of Texas by Captain Amasa Turner. He was a member of Captain Turner's company at San Jacinto but the administrators of his estate did not apply for the land due him for having served in the army.

At the promotion of Captain Turner to Lieutenant Colonel the name of his company was transferred to Company A, First Regiment of Regular Infantry, of which John Smith was appointed captain August 29, 1836. On page 170 of the army muster rolls in the General Land Office, Mr. Hogan's name appears as a member of Captain Smith's Company at muster December 31, 1836. His name likewise appears on page 180 of the rolls as a member of the same company February 28, 1837. He is shown as having enlisted in the army February 13, 1836, for a period of two years.

In the Probate Records of Harrisburg County it is stated that Mr. Hogan died on Galveston Island August 1, 1837, while still in the army. Mannaseh Sevey was appointed administrator of his estate February 8, 1833, Mr. Hogan having no relatives in Texas. In the headright issued in Mr. Hogan's name and delivered to Mr. Sevey by the Harrisburg County Board February 10, 1838, for one-third of a league of land, it is stated that Mr. Hogan arrived in Texas in January, 1836.
