GRIGSBY, CRAWFORD -- Arrived in Texas in October, 1834, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to his heirs January 17, 1850, by the Houston County Board. He was a member of Captain James Chesshire's Company at the "Storming and Capture of Bexar" in 1835. At San Jacinto he was a member of Captain Hayden Arnold's Nacogdoches Company and Donation Certificate No. 987 for 640 acres of land was issued to him for having participated in the battle. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 9437 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 6 to June 6, 1836. Mr. Grigsby died in Anderson County prior to May 31, 1847. The Probate Records of that county show that on the date mentioned, his estate was divided among his children, Ruth Ann, Elizabeth, William, John, James and Robert Grigsby. All were of legal age except James and Robert. Ruth Ann was the wife of Balis Edens and Elizabeth was married to Marcus P. Mead. John Grigsby, son of Crawford Grigsby, was County Clerk of Anderson County in 1837.

The biographies have been scanned from the original typescripts, a process that sometimes allows for mistakes in the new text.
