GREER, THOMAS N.B.-- Born in Tennessee. In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 5, 1838 by the Robertson County Board for one-third of a league of land it is stated that he came to Texas in February, 1836. His brother, Andrew Greer, came with him. In Service Record No. 6364 it is certified that he served in the artillery from April 15 to June 4, 1836, and having on order of the General placed a substitute to serve the remainder of his term of three months, was discharged. He was a member of Captain Isaac N. Moreland's Company at San Jacinto and on December 16, 1841 was issued Donation Certificate No. 1182 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On December 10, 1841 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 9908 for 320 acres of land for his services from April 1 to June 4, 1836. On February 22, 1840 he was commissioned by President Lamar to organize a company of "Boggy and Trinity Rangers."

Captain Greer was killed by Indians in June, 1842 in Houston County near the town of Alabama on the Trinity River. Captain Green married a daughter of Stephen Rogers.
