GRAVES, ALEXANDER S.-- Arrived in Texas sometime between May 2, 1835 and March 2, 1836. In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 3, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County it is stated that he came to Texas before March 2, 1836.

Mr. Graves was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of Velasco Blues at San Jacinto. Bounty Certificate No. 761 for 1280 acres of land was issued in his name January 3, 1851 for his services in the army from March 1 to August 16, 1836. In the certificate it is stated that he was discharged for disability. The fact that he did not apply for a Donation Certificate, which was non-transferable, for the 640 acres of land due him for having fought at San Jacinto indicates, at least, that he left Texas shortly after receiving his discharge from the army.
