FULLERTON, WILLIAM -- Came to Texas in January, 1834, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him March 1, 1838 for a league and labor of land by the Robertson County Board. On an army roll in the General Land Office he is shown as member of Captain Silas Parker's company in 1835. He received Bounty Certificate No. 1122 for 320 acres of land for his services from October 1, 1835 to January 1, 1836. He was a member of Captain James Gillaspie's company at San Jacinto and was issued Donation Certificate No. 609 November 17, 1838 for having participated in the battle. On April 12, 1838, he received a Bounty Certificate for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 9 to June 8, 1836.

Mr. Fullerton was killed by Indians near the falls of the Brazos not many miles from the present city or Marlin, McLennan County, January 16, 1839. On January 10th, Indians attacked the home of John Marlin but were repulsed. On the 16th a party of fifty-two men, mostly from Robertson County and commanded by Captain Benjamin F. Bryant, a veteran of San Jacinto, were in pursuit of the Indians. They overtook them at 9 a. m. near the home of George Morgan near the falls of the Brazos and a desperate battle ensued. The Texans after having thirteen of their men killed and five wounded were forced to retreat in disorder. The loss to the Indians is not known. They were commanded by Jose Maria. The Texans killed were William Fullerson, J. Powers, Washington McGrew, Cyrus L. Ward, Jacob Plummer, Alfred P. Eaton, Hugh A. Henry, L. B. Powers, L. Dorsey, H. Haygood, Hale Burton and Jackson Webb.
Mr. Fullerton was survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Fullerton, and the following children: Margaret, Edward, Robert and William Fullerton, all of Robertson County.
