FARLEY, THOMAS M. -- Arrived in Texas in February, 1836, as is shown in the Headright Certificate for one-third of a league of land issued in his name March 20, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County. On March 29, 1836 he had assigned the rights to the certificate to J. H., R. A. and M. M. Gillespie. He was a member of Captain Henry Teal's Company of Regulars at San Jacinto but he did not apply for the donation land due him for having participated in the battle. On page 131 of the army rolls in the General Land Office he is shown as a member of Captain Teal's Company on June 30, 1836 but at that time on detached service at Matamoras. His name appears on page 143 as a member of Captain Teal's Company, August 31, 1836. On page 149 he is shown as a member of Captain Jacob Snively's Company October 31, 1836 and following his name is the notation: "Promoted to rank of Corpl. of Act 1836. Hospital stewart atchd. to Co. B by order of Sam Houston." He was discharged December 19, 1836 by order of the Secretary of War, as is stated on page 173 of the army rolls.

On January 13, 1838 Mr. Farley was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1838 for 960 acres of land for having served in the army from March 17 to December 22, 1836. This he sold to William B. Jennings at Houston, July 16, 1838, for $180.00. He received Bounty Certificate No. 779 for 960 acres of land for serving in the army from February 14 to December 6, 1837. He was living in Houston January 22, 1838, when he sold this certificate to Samuel Lowry for $300.00.
