DAVIS, GEORGE WASHINGTON -- Shown on the official rolls as printed in 1836 as a member of Captain Moseley Baker's "San Felipe Company" at San Jacinto. In Service Record No. 1218 it is certified that he served in the army from March 1 to May 29, 1836.

No further information about Mr. Davis has been obtained. He did not apply for any of the land due him for having served in the army of Texas. Several George W. Davis' received headrights in but it has not been established that anyone of these was the one who participated in the battle of San Jacinto. The Telegraph and Texas Register of March 5, 1836 in telling of the formation of Captain Baker's Company stated that in the ranks there were "several from the United States." Mr. Davis may have been one of these and may have returned to his home after receiving his discharge from the army.
