CONNOR, JAMES -- In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 3, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Matagorda County Board it is stated that Mr. Conner emigrated to Texas in 1834. In Service Record No. 848 it is certified that he served from February 27, to March 17, 1836 in Captain Turner Barnes' Company; from March 17 to April 5, in Captain Allen Larrison's Company and from April 5 to May 26, 1836 in Captain Robert J. Calder's Company of "Brazoria Volunteers." It is further certified that he served from July 4 to October 4, 1836 in Captain J. W. E. Wallace's Company.

In the Probate Records of Wharton County it is stated that Mr. Connor died in Wharton County in 1847. He signed his will February 18, 1846 and it was opened for probate, March 29, 1847. Listed in his estate was his Donation Certificate No. 202 for 640 acres of land, issued to him May 24, 1838, for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto and a Bounty Certificate for 640 acres of land for serving in the army for a period of six months.
