CLARKSON, CHARLES -- Arrived at Velasco January 28, 1836, on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited in New Orleans for the Army of Texas by Captain Amasa Turner. In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 28, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Harrisburg County Board it is stated that he came to Texas in January 1836. He was a member of Captain Turner's Company at San Jacinto, but did not apply for the donation land due him for having participated in the battle. In Service Record No. 4373 it is stated that he enlisted in the army February 13, 1836, for a term of two years. On August 7 he was promoted to corporal and on November 15 he was made 2nd sergeant. He was discharged October 20, 1837. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 2524 for 1280 acres of land October 25, 1838, for having served in the army from February 20, 1836 to October 20, 1837. This he sold the day he received it to William F. Hedge. He gave Harrisburg County as his home.

A duplicate of Clarkson's Headright Certificate was issued March 2, 1850, to his heirs.
