Candy Cartridges

May 7, 2023 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Line drawings of 7 stages in making a candy cartridge.

During the Texas Revolution, Mexican soldiers fired pre-made cartridges filled with black powder and a musket ball wrapped in paper.  Learn how they worked by making your own replica cartridge using candy in place of the bullet and gunpowder.  This program is appropriate for kids aged 5 and up; younger children are welcome, but will need to have an adult to help.  Free with purchase of ticket to the San Jacinto Museum.
