Just twenty minutes from downtown Houston, locals and out-of-towners alike can turn an afternoon daytrip into a trip back in time — at the San Jacinto Museum of History.
A battleship, a battle and some of the Gulf Coast’s best birding, whether you are entertaining guests, chaperoning a fieldtrip or just spending time with your family, a visit to the museum is an experience to remember.
On Friday, May 12, 2017, the Museum and Park will close at 4:00 to allow setup for an event held that evening in the park by the City of La Porte, celebrating its 125th birthday. Please plan to arrive at the museum early enough to see everything before the early closing time of 4:00.
Please Note: The Observation Floor and the elevator are currently closed, as a replacement part which needs to be specially manufactured is needed for the elevator. It is anticipated that the part will arrive no sooner than the first full week of June, and installation and testing will take several days. Please call to find out if the Observation Floor has reopened before visiting. The theatre and museum galleries are open for you to visit.
