The Story Behind the Artifact
While history is frequently related in terms of facts and figures, it is the wonderful and the strange among the artifacts and their amazing stories that can really bring the past to life. This collection of sixteen artifacts from the collections of the San Jacinto Museum of History may at first glance seem odd or ordinary, but upon learning the history behind the coins, swords, cure-all pills and other items, you can’t help but wonder what from your closet will be used to share fantastic stories about your life and times to your descendants. From a dramatic sword worn at the hip of a colorful Houston manufacturer to a mysterious key taken from a Mexican ghost town by one of the most important Texan women of the 20th century, this group of artifacts deserves to have its stories told.
