A large crane prepares to remove the empty Conex boxes, used for storage during the renovation project, from the upper terrace of the San Jacinto Monument.

Old parts from the elevator, removed from the elevator mechanical room, wait for disposal in front of new elevator cable.  Because much of the work at this time is done in the elevator shaft, museum staff are not able to take pictures of the work.

This view of the outside of the elevator cab doors is unusual.  The bronze doors have been temporarily removed for adjustment of their closing mechanism.

The old controller in the mechanical room will soon be removed, and replaced with technologically advanced equipment.

The main lobby, with a just-polished floor, is open to the public.  Work on the elevator continues, and access to the elevator lobby remains restricted.

Unpacking of the collections continues, with the primary goal of reopening the exhibit gallery.
