April Photo Journal

April 24, 2006

Painting begins in the exhibit gallery.

Carl Warren of Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and David Vice of KBR monitor the progress of the project.

Preparations for the next phase of the renovations begin.  New components for the elevator arrive.

April 12, 2006

Work on the fire safety system in the collections storage area continued, with installation of conduit for the emergency strobe wiring, and new smoke detectors.

This is an unusual scene - the back of the elevator shaft.  Usually either the elevator doors or the elevator cab are visible.  The elevator has been taken out of service on a higher floor, to allow installation of firewalls in the elevator shaft.

Plaster is being applied to the ceiling of the exhibit gallery.  Plaster is authentic to the original design of the Monument.

The holes in the ceiling above the museum store have already been covered, and the plaster is curing.

The tiles removed for the access hole in the library ceiling will be replaced.
