Life-Safety Renovations
Life-safety improvements to the interior of the San Jacinto Monument, including the installation of a sprinkler system, elevator upgrades, and work on the Observation Deck, began September 6, 2005.
The museum has now reopened. Come see the improvements!

What is going on behind the closed doors? Here are glimpses of the work in progress.
October 2, 2006

A ramp is poured between the elevator door and the platform on the 4th floor. This will prevent people from tripping when entering the elevator, and will allow carts to be rolled off of the elevator smoothly.
Glass safety doors are installed on the observation floor at the entrance to the elevator.
