Tin apothecary box (a). Hinged lid. Black on yellow. Reads in part "PARKE, DAVIS & CO. ... CHOICE... BOTANIC DRUGS... PRESSED". Contains 8 paper boxes (b-i) containing sage. 5 of those boxes (b-f) read in part "SAGE... Salvia officinalis 'Guaranteed under the Food and Drugs Act, June 30, 1906' Our Serial Number 2210... PROPERTIES - Tonic, astringent, expectorant, diaphoretic. Valuable in coughs, colds, night sweats, worms, spermatorrhea and as a gargle for ulceration, sore throat, etc. Infusion 1 ounce in a pint of hot water. Dose a wineglassful. Huber & Fuhrman Drug Mills Fond du Lac. Wis." Other 3 boxes (g-i) are similarly marked but are manufactured by "S.W. GOULD & BROS. BOTANIC GARDEN, MALDEN, MASS." Also contains 9 booklets (j-r) with sixteen pages advertising "Chi-ches-ters Diamond Brand Pills" from the Chichester Chemical Co. Philadelphia, PA." A similar booklet can be seen through a tear packaged in on of the boxes of sage from Huber & Fuhrman.
