Provenance

According to the donor, the bootjack was used by Governor Francis Richard Lubbock (1815-1905) and his son, Senator T. U. Lubbock at their ranch on Simms Bayou. The donor is T. U. Lubbock's son. According to Museum records, however, other members of the Lubbock family report that Francis Richard Lubbock had no children.
