Description

Blue and white china bowl. Round. Twelve-sided rim. Central scene has a man and a woman with horse and two dogs in foreground. Musician to left in middleground. Background has people dancing around maypole in front of a manor hall. Hallmark on reverse has shield and reads "BARONIAL HALLS...J & J MAYER... LONGPORT." Also stamped with a "B".


Provenance

Given to Miss Julia Ideson, late librarian of the Houston Public Library, by Mrs. Hally Bryan Perry. On Miss Ideson's death, Mrs. Perry presented the bowl to the Museum.
