Description

Hair bracelet. Bracelet is made of strands of brown hair woven together to create large round tubes. These 9 tubes have been grouped into threes and braided together. Center of bracelet is a large medallion with gold and black enamel surround. Beneath glass cover on medallion is gold monogram "JKB" lying on additional braided hair. Back of medallion has sepia photograph of Jacob Binz under glass. Fittings and push clasp are gold. Hair is of A. Y. Binz.


Provenance

Worn by Mrs. Anna Yeager Binz. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Binz were the grandparents of Mr. Ernst Moser, the donor, whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. August Moser. Mrs. August Moser was Adeline Binz, daughter of Anna Yeager Binz and Jacob Binz. In 1894, Jacob Binz built Houston's first skyscraper.
