Lobby Exhibit: Weapons with a Point

The history of Texas was was made not just with guns, but with pointed weapons. Beginning with flint arrowheads, moving through pikes and halbards, and including swords, bayonets and knives, pointed weapons were used for hunting, fighting, and for ceremonial purposes throughout Texas' history. The current lobby exhibit looks at the structure, form, and variety of some of these tools, from the utilitarian to the ornate, owned by unknown users or by people who played a significant role in the history of the United States. The knife shown above, used by Jim Bowie at the Siege of the Alamo, as well as other examples from the museum's collections will be on exhibit through the first week of November, 2010.
