See the World Before You
The eyes of a Mayan idol. The edge of a Spanish sword. The clarinet carried to war by a Civil War soldier.
One of the reasons the San Jacinto Museum of History Association was chartered was to: “Collect and preserve the materials of history…” And collect and preserve we have. Our many fascinating collections include:
- Ancient Mayan and Aztec artifacts
- Glorious Spanish arms, art and treasure
- Rare French trappings from Robert Cavelier’s 1684 Texas expedition
- Missionary artwork and religious artifacts
- Mexican artwork, uniforms and weaponry
- Personal affects belonging to Texan and American founders
- Unique artifacts from the Texas Navy
- Rare artifacts from early America and the Civil War
- Antique firearms, knives, and swords
- Currency and coins from around the world
- Ladies' jewelry and dressing-table appointments
- And much more!
The collections at the San Jacinto Museum of History are as rich and diverse as Texas culture itself. From genuine Texas six-shooters to Sam Houston’s spectacles, visit us to see the world before you. |
