    See the World Before You

The eyes of a Mayan idol. The edge of a Spanish sword. The clarinet carried to war by a Civil War soldier.

One of the reasons the San Jacinto Museum of History Association was chartered was to: “Collect and preserve the materials of history…” And collect and preserve we have. Our many fascinating collections include:

    • Ancient Mayan and Aztec artifacts
    • Glorious Spanish arms, art and treasure
    • Rare French trappings from Robert Cavelier’s 1684 Texas expedition
    • Missionary artwork and religious artifacts
    • Mexican artwork, uniforms and weaponry
    • Personal affects belonging to Texan and American founders
    • Unique artifacts from the Texas Navy
    • Rare artifacts from early America and the Civil War
    • Antique firearms, knives, and swords
    • Currency and coins from around the world
    • Ladies' jewelry and dressing-table appointments
    • And much more!

The collections at the San Jacinto Museum of History are as rich and diverse as Texas culture itself. From genuine Texas six-shooters to Sam Houston’s spectacles, visit us to see the world before you.
